Attempting to have a glimpse of the miracle of life and, ultimately the expansion of consciousness. Painting from an early age, the first paintings expressed the mesmerizing experiences while freediving in the ocean. Fascinated with being underwater, with the interaction with the fishes, with the sun light dancing through the water column. Nowadays, while gliding on skis through the snowy forest in Montana, or, gliding underwater, while free diving in the Azores, or playing with the family children in my home town Lisbon, the intention is to practise being present: The great portal to the divine. Intertwining the body with the elements, weaving the heart with the love for my family, and recognising that life is all about the encounters. This is how the art is born, from connecting, embracing, being present and while painting, flowing intuitively. Azores The Big Blue 150 x 100 cms This painting is inspired by my personal experience freediving at Princess Alice Bank, a seamount 45 nautical miles from the Azores, where I live during the summer. Several different species gather here, in this underwater mountain, 30 meters to the sea surface, surrounded by great depths of many thousand meters. The mobula tarapacana rays are some of my favourite animals to swim with. They are curious and come near us. The whale sharks, graciously swimming, giant as they are, yet so gentle. This painting portraits a calm day at sea. The sun rays are vertical, it's about mid day.
